Ten Percent Jump Reflects Growth of Rehabilitation Network and Additional Payer Contracts
(Calabasas, Calif. – March 10, 2004) – PTPN, the country’s first and largest network of independent rehabilitation providers, announced today that it processed $162 million in national claims last year. This represents an increase of 10 percent, up from $147 million in 2002.
“We attribute our claims increase primarily to our concerted contracting efforts on behalf of our membership, and to the growth of our network, which now includes more than 1,100 rehabilitation practices across the country,” said PTPN President & CEO Michael Weinper, MPH, PT.
“Managed care companies realize the valuable role that independent outpatient rehabilitation practitioners play in reducing both medical and workers’ compensation costs for
employees,” Weinper continued. “Our providers have much to offer payers in terms of injury prevention, health
maintenance and management of costly illnesses and chronic conditions.”

that regularly audits providers and measures patient satisfaction, monitoring that utilization of services is appropriate to the patient’s medical needs. PTPN practitioners must pass the strictest credentialing standards in the industry, which exceed those required by the National Commission for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and often those required by state licensing, Medicare and community standards.
About PTPN: PTPN is the first and largest specialty network of rehabilitation therapists in independent practice. It has led the rehabilitation industry in pioneering national contracting,
capitation and quality assurance programs since 1985. The network has more than
1,100 provider offices (including physical, occupational and speech therapists) in 23 states. PTPN contracts with most of the major managed care organizations in the nation, including insurers, workers’ compensation companies, PPOs, HMOs, medical
groups and IPAs. Only offices that are owned and operated by rehabilitation therapists can be members of the network.
